They're getting rid of the only smart thing they've done in 40 years - because people are idiots...

A dramatic rise in accidents killing or injuring pedestrians and bicyclists has led to a myriad of policy and infrastructure changes, but moves to ban right on red have drawn some of the most intense sentiments on both sides.

  1. Tell those stupid pedestrians to get their faces out of their phones and watch where they're going.

  3. It Might be a data point to consider...
How many people are getting hit by a car doing a right turn on red?
I know the light is green for a pedestrian who would step off the curb
and have a car on their left, that Could turn right. A driver who is planning on turning right is Hopefully, looking left. A pedestrian really should know that. And not step out.

Ohh,but the pedestrian has the right of way!
Yeah, okay,, Aaand? Who cares? The car doesn't know that. If a pedestrian fails to make eye contact and Get Acknowledgement from the driver that they Actually see the pedestrian, they are risking their life. As a motorcycle rider I can tell you about making eye contact with someone only to have them make a move that only someone who didn't know I was there could make.

Maybe start with Educating the pedestrians.
Some people who Have the Right of Way act like they are invincible, the world will have to wait, while they intentionally drag their sorry selves across the road,, it's their Big Win..
The old slogan is still right..
    You can be right,
    You can be Dead Right..

  5. We have an intersection in my town on the street with the bridge from NJ. They don't even stop at the red light anymore. They could probably solve the National Debt with people that blow that red light but the town council all have deaf ears.

  6. Deaths must not be that important if they passed the ban in 2022 and it doesn't take effect till 2025.
