The Quiet Mon Pub in Cruz Bay on St. John (USVI) has been the best non-beach bar on island for the past 26 years...
I'm proud to say I played a small part in it's opening so many years ago.
It's not a big place, but it's big in my heart. There's a 8 (or so) stool bar with a couple of inside tables and an outside porch where you could watch the world go by.
The owners of the building had jacked the rent in the last lease agreement to an almost unbelievable amount, but Kelly - the owner - stuck it out. The new lease comes do In January, and the landlord has jacked the price again.
That lease payment would be nuts, so Kelly has decided to pack up and move back to the States.
A truly sad day. Now who's gonna support the St. Patty's Day parade, jerkoffs?
This is the bar Kenny Chesney sang about in his sing 'Be as you are'. The hand-written original lyrics from Kenny are hanging on the wall - a true keepsake.
I'll post the link later to the YouTube video.
i hope he relocates to the southern gulf coast area, i would be most certainty be a patron.
ReplyDeleteBeen there a few times over the years, fun place. Wanna leave the islands with a million dollars, go with two.
ReplyDeleteIt's right next to the legislature annex. I wonder if the government is pricing out the locals so as to expand their presence on that block?
