I'd be surprised if anyone in Antarctica has to buy groceries. More likely they are government employees or contractors who eat at a government run cafeteria. If they have to buy anything, it's probably online with a credit card. Or for families back in the States. Maybe they need cash for gambling (nightly poker games?) and illicit materials (booze, dope, porn, etc.).
Why does anyone there even need cash? There can't be that many places to spend it; this seems like a left-over from the last century. Everything could be done with debit cards... except for gambling and prostitution

ReplyDeleteAlso don't understand the need for cash, there's really no need for it.
ReplyDeleteIt's to buy the things that aren't supposed to be available there.
