Think hurricane season is over just because it's
getting a little chilly? Think again...
The newest tropical system in the Atlantic Basin after Tropical Storm Tammy formed Wednesday. Forecasts indicate that it could threaten the northern Leeward Islands with gusty winds and tropical downpours.
With less than 20% of hurricane season left to go, the season is already running slightly above average. There have been 20 tropical storms so far this season, with six of them becoming hurricanes. Three of those hurricanes reached major status.
On average, the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to Nov. 30, sees 14 named storms, seven hurricanes and three major hurricanes.

They do this all over the world - pretty much almost everywhere you can name. They're especially popular in Europe and southeast Asia - street vendors and sidewalk stalls - like this street vegetable market on the Via Pescherie Vecchie in Bologna, Italy. There are a number of reasons why we can't do it here in America, not the least of which is that we're so grossly over-regulated and anal. Can you name a couple more reasons?

the age of 40. It's cool to see shit from a different perspective. The caption on this said 'The stroll that started it all, 1960.'

She'll figure out a way to thank you...

CNN - The 1985 Domino’s Pizza delivery car looks more like it was designed to shoot down invading alien spacecraft than to bring you a hot delicious pepperoni pie. But back in the ’80s, Domino’s founder Tom Monaghan ordered 10 Tritan A2 cars and customized them with warming ovens in the back to deliver pizzas around Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Domino’s is headquartered.
Just a few survive today. One of them is being offered for sale at a Las Vegas classic car auction on November 10. Even the car’s current owner admits it’s pretty terrible to drive and probably wasn’t even that great at delivering pizza, but it does look pretty cool.

This is what Hollywood wants you to see:
Okay, I can sorta see Nathan Lane (an actor whom I once had great admiration for) in the lead playing himself again with Megan Mullaly as a disfunctional, alcoholic ex-wife, but is this really what musical theater (movies) have become? If so, our society is completely fucked.

ReplyDeleteThe usual suspects will rob you blind!
In Japan for example they'll take it a step further with the honesty system, shop/stall will be unattended and you simply drop the correct value money in a box.
Burt Young was dynamite in “The Pope of Greenwich Village” as Bedbug Eddie Grant
ReplyDeleteSame here on Burt Young. Met him in NYC in 87 or so. I was in NYC working construction for a year. One of the projects was a luxury hotel renovation, on the east side. Burt was staying in one of the hotel suites while filming one of the Rocky movies. Great guy. He bought pizza and beer a number of times for the crews working the hotel job. Very approachable. RIP.
