I don't know if they're habits, but they are good ideas...

  1. I am still proud that this is the training class in my corporate career history that I was requested to not return to after lunch. I could absolutely not handle the BS and made it clear. This of course was not OK with those fellow 'students' for whom attending training classes was the ultimate goal in their accomplishments.

  3. Covey was a GREAT bullshit artist. He took commonplace learning known for centuries - all of it basic northern European culture, which is to say white culture - repackaged it and sold it over and over to idiot companies. Along with desk organizers, posters, yada-yada. Most of the seminars were a couple days, done by his trained minions; Covey himself was a really big ticket. All of his advice was said earlier, and usually better, by people like Dale Carnegie, Toastmasters, etc. It wasn't wrong- in fact, it was very much right- but he made a cult of it, and made money by the truckload. The very embodiment of popular delusions and the madness of crowds; business leaders couldn't get enough of him. He seemed sincere and genuinely well-meaning but was so driven by his ego and energy that he seemed to have no idea how prosaic and banal his revelations really were. Any boy scout up to the era of the 80s had heard all this from day one. It was excruciating to sit through for any normal adult of that time.
