A member of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s party introduced new legislation that would penalize Italians who use English and other foreign words in official communications, in an attempt to stop the invasion of foreign languages in Italy.
Italians holding an office in public administration who use foreign words in official communications could face fines of up to $108,705 under the new proposed law, according to a draft of the legislation.
The bill, which has yet to go up for debate, would require Italians holding public office to have “written and oral knowledge and mastery of the Italian language.” It also forbids the use of English - including acronyms and names - in official documents.
Latin only! Hail Ceasar!
ReplyDeleteWow! Using official language in official business, how original! Here in the States they would have to go to remedial Enlish classes for, like, you know, three years or whatever. (See what I did there?)
ReplyDeleteOh! and they must be sober at all times while attending to official business as well.
Next: Enunciation, and why it matters...
Good for them. Meanwhile in the f-d up US, we demand that you speak English in order to become a citizen, but print ballots in 12 different languages. Yeah, that makes good sense.
ReplyDeleteOr not 12 different languages, but just 1 - to make it clear that Spanish-speakers are favored above all other immigrants (and natives).
DeleteI live in a state over a thousand miles from any Spanish towns, where the first white explorers and settlers were French. When I was growing up, some of their descendants still spoke broken English, but their kids my age learned to fit in by becoming proficient in English. There were more speakers of Finnish, Swedish, Polish, and German than Spanish speakers, not to mention the Ojibwa who've lived around here for thousands of years. But you won't find French, Ojibwa, Finnish, Swedish, Polish, or German on the ballot, just English and Spanish.
Hey, if you want to keep your country "Your Country" then this makes perfect sense. Enforcing your country's identity is one way to make the Soros rabble less effective.
