Donald Trump’s trial could be televised if proposed legislation pushed by Albany Democrats gets approved in the new state budget. New York is one of just two states that bar broadcasts from trial courtrooms.
“As the media capital of the world - and the venue for the arraignment of Donald Trump - we must change this outdated law to allow the public to witness trials,” said state Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Brad Hoylman-Sigal (D-Manhattan), who is sponsoring the bill that would pave the way for courtroom cameras, at a Sunday press conference.
“With a first-of-its-kind trial on the horizon, there’s no time to waste in opening the doors of the courthouse to the media and the American public,” the pol said. The proposal, introduced as part of the state’s pending budget plan, would take effect 90 days after becoming law.
Trump’s trial isn’t expected to start for at least a couple of months, and is timed to effect the outcome of the next Presidential election, because we're all idiots and can't figure out for ourselves that this horshitshow is just political theater at it's worst.

and the insomniacs - Lady Lake officials are ready to cut hours at bars to clean up Spanish Springs - the town center closest to where I live. Township Commissioners on Monday night heard from Police Chief Robert Tempesta who had proposed cutting off liquor sales at midnight rather than 2 a.m.
The chief indicated the late-night drinkers at Spanish Springs are coming from outside the town limits and are younger than most residents of the town. “Our town seems to be the destination for those who want to continue their night,” the chief said. God knows why beyond just getting high...

The University of Connecticut student’s and fans brought chaos to school’s campus celebrating UConn’s 76-59 national championship win over San Diego State in Houston last night. The Storrs, Conn., campus erupted into madness after the game ending, ringing in the Huskies’ first Men’s NCAA championship win since 2014 in Philadelphia-like fashion.
In video and photos circulating on Twitter, shows fans and students climbing lampposts, taking down lampposts, and using them as a battering rams to smash through the doors a campus building. WTNH also reported that fans flipped cars, broke windows and climbed buldings. Many students had been watching the game on campus at Gampel Pavilion before filling into the street in celebration.
My generation did shit like this to protest the draft and the VietNam war. These dooshbags do this to celebrate a stupid fuckin' college basketball game? No wonder the country's priorities are as fucked up as they are these days.

ReplyDeleteLife is short.
If you're driving out to Yosemite you ought to make the (relatively short) side trip to the Grand Canyon. Go to the south rim, park & walk for a bit taking in the always changing views and muttering "wow!" again and again... Then continue on to Yosemite NP. (Hint- Spend the $80 on the lifetime senior pass at the first park you go into.)

ReplyDeleteAbout the Presidents T-shirt: As far as I'm concerned, everyone elected President or VP* since Eisenhower was a turd, clown, and/or sociopath - and I might be wrong about Ike, he retired when I was 7. Trump was the best of a bad lot.
ReplyDelete*Note the wording - I chose that to leave out one ex-President. I've been living in his home town for 15 years, and I'm still not sure whether he was too decent to be elected to national office, or just didn't have enough time to show his ass.
