They can't figure out which way climate change is changing. Six months ago Venice was suffering from severe flooding that made sidewalks disappear and the streets almost unpassable. Now this - all in one year. Which tree do you huf to fix his, Tony?
Weeks of dry winter weather have raised concerns that Italy could face another drought after last summer’s emergency, with the Alps having received less than half of their normal snowfall, according to scientists and environmental groups.
The warning comes as Venice, where flooding is normally the primary concern, faces unusually low tides that are making it impossible for gondolas, water taxis and ambulances to navigate some of its famous canals.
The problems in Venice are being blamed on a combination of factors – the lack of rain, a high pressure system, a full moon and sea currents.
You know - climate change...
I spent a great week in Venice back in 1978. the dollar was worth a lot of lira back then.
ReplyDeletealso the very best ice cream I ever had was there, small shop not far from the Daniele (?) hotel
the lobby was done in green marble back then if I remember right.
All their water is filling Kalifornia's reservoirs.
ReplyDeleteGovernot Nuisance should return it IMMEDIATELY, one quart at the time in environmentally safe paper bags, or allow the construction of a paper straw pipeline.
I never fail to be amazed at the vanity of those who believe, or are most likely lieing about it, that man can control the environment on this planet.....we can cooperate with the direction nature is taking it, but control it?....cycles, young man....it's all about cycles....the most CO2 ever found on the planet occurred when earth was a frozen globe covered in ice and snow revolving around the sun....and amazingly, there were no humans even present at that time....
