Does anyone else - besides me - want to work anymore?

School districts statewide are working to fill 9,000 teacher vacancies with just weeks until the start of the school year, according to numbers from the Florida Education Association (FEA). “Our public schools are really at a crisis level seeing this massive number of vacancies,” said Andrew Spar the Florida Education Association President.
Pinellas County spent Thursday hosting an all-day virtual job fair to find educators. The district was able to get its number of openings down to 163 teacher jobs. Sarasota County Schools is still looking to hire 126 instructors. Hillsborough County has 700 instructional vacancies. Hernando County has 107.
All Tampa Bay-area districts told ABC Action News that they have more vacancies now than they did at this time last year. “While we have a large number of instructional vacancies right now, which is not unique to Hillsborough County, this is a great resignation we are seeing across the state and the nation. Know that we are doing everything that we can to be able to recruit and retain the best and the brightest for your children,” explained Hillsborough County Schools Superintendent Addison Davis.
Davis continued, “When we look at 700+ vacancies within our school districts, we’ve got to be able to find solutions to win the talent war.”

A mother's pride in New Jersey:

A South Jersey mother is so proud of her daughter's accomplishments that she decided to let the whole city know about it. When Kendra Busbee's daughter, Kristine Smalls, received her doctorate in psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine on July 29, it was a full circle moment. The moment started in the parking lot of The Pub in Pennsauken. "She thought I was surprising her with a Covid party in the parking lot," said Busbee. Then she noticed the giant billboard.
Her face and her accomplishments are now visible to everyone traveling along Route 130, just south of Airport Circle near Camden. "From what I hear, it's about 15,000 cars that drive by here Monday-Friday," said Busbee. The proud mother rented the billboard for $1,250, but she says its effect is priceless.

It isn't just teachers that are in short supply, it's
pretty much all public sector jobs that aren't getting
filled here in Florida - and around the country.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department, as well as numerous other law enforcement agencies across the nation and state, have been fighting crime with lower-than-usual staff numbers on their staffs. The South Florida Sun Sentinel talked to more than a dozen experts inside and outside of local police departments, who said there are four main reasons for the low number of officers in recent years:
  • Law enforcement hiring is often cyclical. When the economy is good, young people don’t tend to turn to government jobs. The same goes for the military, often a pipeline for employment in police work after military service.
  • Law enforcement hiring is often affected by social unrest such as the Rodney King beating by police, the uprising in Ferguson, Mo., and the death of George Floyd, and the negativity about police that follows.
  • There’s been a high number of recent resignations, possibly due to the current negativity associated with the profession. Retirement is also up as masses of law enforcement officers who joined agencies experiencing growth spurts in the 1990s reach retirement age.
  • The younger generation isn’t as interested in law enforcement as previous generations.
The International Association of Chiefs of Police says multiple social, political and economic forces led to what it calls a state of crisis in the country. Which begs the question: Has the time-honored glamour of wearing a badge worn off?
“Yes, but it took many years in the making,” said Marshall Jones, a retired police officer. Jones is an associate professor at the Florida Institute of Technology in Brevard County. He specializes in police recruiting, field training and retention.

Negative attitudes toward police and policing, and increased scrutiny of police use-of-force cases, have made many officers question if they want continue being a police officer, according to Lorie Fridell, criminology professor at the University of South Florida and past director of research for the Police Executive Research Forum.
A 2021 study conducted by the Police Executive Research Forum found a 45% increase in retirements in 2020 compared to the previous year and an 18% jump in resignations. The study also found there was a 5% decrease in new hires.

As House Republicans rush to argue that the FBI search of Donald Trump’s home
is marred by politics, they are readying a future Hunter Biden investigation designed to ensnare Joe Biden ahead of a potential reelection bid.
House Republicans see no contradiction between their suspicion of the FBI’s law enforcement activity at Mar-a-Lago and their interest in digging into the business dealings of the president’s son and other family members. Oversight of the Bidens, they contend, would counterbalance what they see as a Justice Department where partisanship influences decisions like the probe of 2020 election subversion that’s drawing closer to Trump.
It's about time they started doing some Goose/Gander shit up there on the Hill. These fuckin' Dems have been up DJT's ass for six years now, while this asswipe and Bill & Hill have gotten away with all kindsa crazy shit.

  1. I'm sure the FBLIes looked for Melania's used panties to take along for Joe to sniff. Oh, and the woman vacuuming her lawn? She's no more nutty than the nutty ones who water, fertilize, and mow three times a week.

  2. I predict that it is only a matter of time before some FBI agent starts selling Melania's underwear on Facebook Marketplace.
