Get this straight once and for all. It's not the gun. It never is.

It's an angry, twisted, fucked-up sociopath with his finger on the trigger. If there were no guns, he'd use something else...
And there's almost always one thing in common with
all these whackjobs. It's social media.

Timothy McVeigh aside, almost every single one of these mass-murders we've seen in the past fifteen or so years has had that one thing in common. They - the killers - all either learned how to hate on social media platforms, or used the platforms to promote and predict their actions.
We are giving them social media access, something we haven’t really thought about fully in advance. We’ve allowed smartphones and social media to be a social norm for kids before knowing the permanent side effects and damage they can cause, especially in children and young adults. Smartphone use and social media are so closely intertwined, especially in young people.
This friendly pastime is becoming an addiction. And it's fueling evil fires at the same time it eliminates or destroys completely the ability of these young adults to interact with others on any civilized level.
The value of life, the ability to communicate, the empathy for others are all lost behind the screens of Fakebook, Twitter and the rest of these platforms. Now that this crazed cat is out of the bag, I don't know it can ever be put back, so something's gotta change.

We need to reflect on what we are allowing our children (and ourselves)
to be exposed to. This conversation needs to be had - we need to be educated about the realities of smartphones and social media.

Is this what this 'cancel culture'
 bullshit does to us?

Fort Bragg would become Fort Liberty. Fort Gordon would be Fort Eisenhower. And, for the first time, Army bases would be named after Black soldiers and women. An independent commission on Tuesday recommended new names for nine Army posts that now commemorate Confederate officers.
The recommendations are the latest step in a broader effort by the military to confront racial injustice, most recently in the aftermath of the May 2020 police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
Fort Bragg, in North Carolina, is the only base that wouldn’t be named after a person. Two others would be named after Black soldiers, and three would include women’s names. Fort Gordon in Georgia would get the most well-known name — commemorating President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who led allied forces in Europe in World War II.
Other proposed renamings would honor lesser-known heroes, including several who received the Medal of Honor, the military’s highest award. Fort Polk, in Louisiana, would be renamed Fort Johnson, after Sgt. William Henry Johnson, a Black Medal of Honor recipient who served in the Army in World War I.

Fakebook wanted me to take a 'survey' yesterday.
I hate Fakebook. It's pretty much only good for
reminding you of people's birthdays.

That was it. They had removed a picture I posted (a friggin' cartoon) in one of the groups I follow, and afterwards they wanted to know if they had hurt my feelings somehow. Seriously.

Researchers found Facebook is a significant source of news. Three in 10 people (33%) reported visiting Facebook in the last 24 hours to find news. When compared with other possible responses, the results show people use Facebook about as much as mainstream news sources like CNN (32%) and Fox News (30%).

A leading adviser to the World Health Organization described the unprecedented outbreak of the rare disease monkeypox in developed countries as “a random event” that might be explained by risky sexual behavior at two recent mass events in Europe.
So let me get this straight. There are 200+ cases noted around the world and this guy can definitively say it came from these 'raves', but COVID kills how many millions of people and nobody knows where that came from, huh?
Yeah - I got me a shitload of respect for these 'experts'. GTFOH.

In an age where the entire generation is hooked to the internet and various social networking sites, it's not difficult to imagine that we are moving in a direction that is will take us to an extremely unhealthy way of living.
