Think being having been born and raised where you were was bad?

I grew up in Newark, New Jersey, so
what ever the contest was, I won...

I hate to have to admit it, but this jackass also grew up in Newark,
was the Mayor of the City, and is now he's a friggin' Senator.
He is an absolute jackass.

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J. (a national embarrassment if ever there was one), brought Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson to tears Wednesday with an impassioned speech hearkening to the plight of Black Americans and the efforts of their forebears that led Booker and Jackson to be sitting together in the same Senate hearing room.
“It’s hard for me not to look at you and not see my mom. Not to see my cousins, one of them who had to come here and sit behind you. She had to have your back. I see my ancestors and yours,” Booker said. “But don’t worry, my sister. Don’t worry. God has got you. And how do I know that? You’re here, and I know what it’s taken for you to sit in that seat.

At various points during Booker’s presentation, Jackson, who spent much of the last two days fending off attempts by Republican senators to derail her historic nomination to the high court, reached across the witness table in the room and pulled a tissue from the pack and dabbed her eyes.

One last reminder about the ads:

A quick word about the ads that Google places on the blog: I know sometimes they're a pain in the ass, but having them is a very small price to pay for what Google does for  me - and for you guys, too. Ya see, they provide this 'Blogger' platform free of charge to me and others and give us the tools to craft our blog posts the way we like to. That, plus the fact that they pay me a (very small) commission on the ads is a win for all of us, really.
One thing you have to know about the ads - some are really dumb and you probably have no idea why you're seeing them, right? Well, I have no idea either. I cannot see the ads that they're displaying to you
Your surfing and search patterns determine how the algorithms decide what and when they're gonna show you. I have ZERO control over that. The only controls they do give me are what ads I think you shouldn't see (like those jerkoff click-bait websites and way too many women's clothing things). Those I can stop from running.

This is how I feel about reading the morning paper...
...

She has a lot more than this to worry about. And so do we...

Vice President Kamala Harris felt "belittled" and "wounded" by the cover photo of her that Vogue selected for its February 2021 issue and dispatched a top aide to complain to Anna Wintour, a forthcoming book reportedly says.
Politico's West Wing Playbook newsletter on Tuesday published excerpts of "This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America's Future" by the New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns, set to be released in May, that detailed Harris' reaction to the controversial Vogue cover.
The image, shot by the photographer Tyler Mitchell, featured Harris casually dressed in a Donald Deal pantsuit and Converse sneakers in front of a background with draped green and pink fabric, in a nod to Harris' college sorority.

She DID pose willingly and happily for the picture after all, didn't she?

But when the image was published online in January 2021, it reportedly caught Harris' team off guard and garnered criticism. Some of Harris' allies and other critics charged that the choice to feature Harris dressed more casually failed to give her the respect and gravitas that she deserved, and that the lighting and background portrayed the vice president-elect unflatteringly.

Read the lyrics and tell me you can't hear
 the song inside your head...

I'm sittin' in my room, I'm starin' out my window
And I wonder where you've gone
Thinking back on the happy hours just before the dawn
Outside the wind is blowin'
It seems to call your name again
Where have you gone?
City streets and lonely highways
I travel down
My car is empty and the radio just seems to bring me down
I'm just tryin' to find me
A pretty smile that I can get into
It's true, I'm lost without you
Another lonely park, another Sunday
Why is it life turns out that way?
Just when you think you got a good thing
It seems to slip away
It's warm outside, no clouds are in the sky
But I need a place to go and hide
I keep it to myself
I don't want nobody…

There is just no such thing as too much Doobie Brothers.

Earlier that morning. It's hard to get my head
around the fact that this happened nearly
sixty years ago. Jeez...
...

This is what makes me happy this time of year...

Another great tequila ad from the 80's...
...

He comes across as a pretty stand-up guy. He certainly makes
a shitload of money doing something it looks like he has
a lot of fun doing. Good for him...

That was the day I changed my truck registration.
2005 F150 - takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.
We still can't figure out what that ticking noise is, though...

  1. If your truck has the 5.4 3v engine, and it is ticking, get it into your mechanic ASAP!

  2. Ticking? Probably a lifter. I've had two F-150s and 2 E-150s.

  3. I'm waiting for the day Cory Booker ever says anything complimentary about a white person.
