Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has said President Biden's falling poll numbers, particularly among younger people, is a real cause for concern as the Midterm elections edge closer.
The progressive Democrat who represents Queens and The Bronx in Congress said that she believes the president is risking the complete 'collapse' of his support among fellow progressives and young would-be Democratic voters.
But she believes that all is not yet lost and that the second half of Biden's first term could be saved if the president pushes some of his promised legislation through the use of executive action.
'We need to acknowledge that this isn't just about middle of the road, increasingly narrow band of independent voters,' Ocasio-Cortez told NY1.
'But, this is really about the collapse of support among young people, among Democratic base, feeling like they worked overtime to get this president elected and they aren't necessarily being seen,' she said.

Actually, the government can't cancel student loan debt unless it made the loan. Most student loans are only guaranteed by the government but made by private lenders. So the government could step in and pay off those loans, but they can't "forgive" them unless they actually made them.
ReplyDeleteNote that forgiven loan debt is treated as income for purposes of income tax! Won't there be some surprised folks when they get that 1099.
And if I didn't have aa college loan can I get some money for NOT having one?
ReplyDeletethe nicer the packaging, the lesser the contents
ReplyDeletenature can be a real bitch sometimes. at first look, she a hot little thing, then she opens her mouth and starts talking. not sure about you guys, but I would be running away from that. she is at best, a one night stand. and even then DO NOT GIVE HER YOUR REAL NAME. just saying
ReplyDeleteFind that rooftop dance video from when she was in college. That nice package was halfway to her knees then, and sure hasn't gone anywhere but down since. OTOH, if you like 'em long and flappy, then have at it.
ReplyDeleteUniversities are charging too much for classes. They have added many admin people and increased the payments to Professors and the Leading people. From when I went to college at the mid to end of the 70s it cost about $250 per month (including living) in California. Elizabeth Warren, who is a Dem Senator of Massachusetts but also a Professor at Harvard, gets $400k for teaching 1 class per year, which is ridiculous for her to complain about loan or cost problems of colleges.
