Joe Biden on Tuesday gave his most forceful endorsement to date of changing the Senate filibuster rule in order to pass sweeping voting rights legislation, saying he was “tired of being quiet” in a high-spirited but bat-shit crazy speech in Georgia.
In one of the loudest speeches of his presidency so far, Biden drew a connection in history between the civil rights movement, the 6 January attack on the US Capitol, and the unprecedented efforts in many states to restrict the vote over the last year.
He said America was at a moment to choose “democracy over autocracy”.
And the crowd roared...
For the record, in case ya don't know
what it is, here it is short and sweet:
In the United States Senate, a filibuster is a tactic employed by opponents of a proposed law to prevent the measure's final passage. ... Thus, the minority could extend debate on a bill indefinitely by holding the floor of the Senate, preventing the bill from coming to a vote.
So - in other words, they want to do
away with any debate before the
fact on any bill proposed. Nice, huh?
LET'S GO BRANDON!!!
ReplyDeleteHe wants to "temporarily " change the filibuster rules. Then change them back before the Republicans take over
