The kid who lived across the street from
me growing up had one of these:
When The Atomic Energy Lab hit the market in 1950, promising more than 150 "exciting experiments" for the junior scientist, it was one of the most elaborate science kits available. In addition to four small jars of actual uranium, it had beta-alpha, beta, and gamma radiation sources. It contained a cloud chamber, a spinthariscope (a device for watching atoms decay – FUN!), an electroscope, and a Geiger counter to see if your dog, Spot, was sneaking radioactive scraps from your lab behind your back, the scamp.
The lab, which sold for $49.50, also included a 60-page instruction book and a guide to mining uranium. But wait, there’s more.
The kit boasts a handy manual on how to split atoms. I know what you’re thinking: Gosh, that sounds dangerous. Well, don’t worry Mom and Dad, the manual features the classic comic book couple Blondie and Dagwood Bumstead, as well as their children, dog and friends, who all explain the basics of atomic energy. So you know it’s safe.

David Lee Roth has announced his retirement from rock and roll.
The Van Halen frontman, 66, surprised all when he announced he'll be done performing after his previously scheduled January 8th show at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
'I am throwing in the shoes. I'm retiring,' Roth said.

The backlog of billions of dollars of toys, clothing, electronics, vehicles, and furniture comes as the demand for consumer goods hit its highest point in history as consumers stay home instead of spending money on travel and entertainment. Supply chains have lagged far behind consumer demand due to a lack of manpower at American ports and the restrictions that came with the COVID-19 outbreak early last year.
These constraints, which include social distancing and mandatory quarantines, have severely limited the number and ability of port workers to do their jobs.

The Life Mag was from 1964, I didn't know that the the media was already souring on Vietnam in 1964. I thought that really didn't get going till after the Tet Offensive.
As far as those shipping back ups. They're definitely all true. can't get people to off load them and then can't trucks to haul away from rail yards. This is going to be around for awhile I'm afraid. It's destroying the automobile industry because of all the parts that come from Asia
The Life mag article was about the 'unwanted war'...
