Childhood memories. They're really priceless.

And then you stumble on a treasure and everything comes back in a flash...
My Father died 15 years ago, and when my Mom died I was the executor of her estate. There were two metal boxes of 35mm slides that I never opened until last week. Had them digitized and a flood of childhood memories came back to me. The memories really are precious. Without descriptions, I'd like to share a few with you - here's some of the 300 or so that I got back. I am the youngest boy in all of the pics. I was born in '53...

To be honest, Legacybox.com did the conversions and I am really disappointed in the results. I don't know why, but I expected a helluva lot more from them than what I got. It's a bit of a ripoff, actually, but then again, our reach exceeds our grasp at times...

  1. Reviving from 'ancient' history I'd be pleased with the results. I'm a couple of years older than you. I was transplanted straight back in the day!!

  2. Dear lord, man, are we related? Any one of those could be in a box of pictures in my mom’s front closet. Borden’s milk.... Haven’t seen that since the 70’s....

  3. count yourself lucky...I was only able to save 1/10 of 1% of my fathers slides...Ektachrome... commercial developing,(run another 50 rolls through)... all highlights washed out after 60 years...

  4. Looks like your house was the place where the neighborhood's kids used to congregate. I was born in 1952 and have two younger brothers. I can definitely relate to your pics.

  8. Great pictures, looks like the ones I have from my childhood. I also have 8mm films my father took from the 50s and 60s.

  9. Remembrances... Important to many people, if you can label the people in the pictures they can be important to people 50 years from now.
My mom didn't label much, I was left with a lot of pictures of strangers. They might have been important to my family history, but to me they were just old pictures of people.

    Thanks for sharing!

  10. There's almost 400. Too many to label.

    1. All my mom's pictures that we had no idea who was in them were tossed. I've no doubt she knew who they were but she wasn't around any more.
I grabbed all the photos I could find, picked up a flatbed scanner and started scanning & labeling them. A pain to do, I spread it out. It'll be useful to the grandkids maybe...
I found a picture of my grandma at 16, she was a looker! I'm really glad the picture was marked.

Our friends at Twisted Hillbilly know a beautiful gal when they see one - no matter where she's from...

I believe her name is Diletta Leotta. She's a country gal,  but not from this country. She's from Italy...
