What new and wondrous nonsense awaits us today? I don't have a clue.

Life would be so wonderful if we only knew what to do with it...

Martin Luther King's 'I Have A Dream' speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC in 1963. He spoke to and about all of us. I'm grateful to have been alive for this. He was a great man and a profundly great thinker. Where are the black leaders now?

I don't miss much about NJ but I really do miss NYC. Especially this very special place.

One of my favorite places in the whole world is Washington Square Park. It's a public park in Greenwich Village / Lower Manhattan near NYU. One of the best known of New York City's public parks, it is an icon as well as a meeting place and center for cultural activity.

The park is an open space, dominated by the Washington Square Arch at the northern gateway to the park, with a tradition of celebrating nonconformity. The park's fountain area has long been one of the city's popular spots for residents, tourists and neighborhood kids.

Sadly, this is what it looks like these days:

They shot themselves in the foot alright.

Rush Limbaugh said it best the other day on the radio:

"People are just tuning out baseball. All it took was to see BLM, Black Lives Matter, on the pitcher’s mound at some of these games, and I know some big-time baseball fans that said to heck with this. And they just turned it off. And, you know, I don’t blame ’em. I don’t think these professional sports leagues have the slightest idea what has happened to them and what is in store for them."

I think the whole season's gonna be cancelled probably by Sunday.

Agriculture officials in several US states issued warnings this week about unsolicited shipments of foreign seeds and advised people not to plant them. Residents in more than a dozen states recently reported receiving seed packets they did not order that appeared to have been sent by mail from China.

The US Department of Agriculture said it is working with the Customs and Border Protection, other federal agencies, and the state department to investigate the situation. The department is urging US residents to report the suspicious packages and not plant the seeds. But it it “doesn’t have any evidence indicating this is something other than a ‘brushing scam’ where people receive unsolicited items from a seller who then posts false customer reviews to boost sales”.

DO SOMETHING STUPID INSTEAD" Department:

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is growing his 14-day quarantine coronavirus travel advisory list to 34 states plus Puerto Rico, he said Tuesday.

“Our job is to make sure we’re doing everything we can to control COVID - which we are doing - and anticipate possible future issues that might come along,” “On the situation across the nation, it still is very bad and there are more states that have exceeded our threshold for quarantine. Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Washington D.C. are now added to the list,” he said.

“Puerto Rico is also added to the list. So, that means we’re now 34 states, D.C. and Puerto Rico who are on the quarantine list.”

Back when I was a kid, this is the kind of thing we'd dream about. Games on the line, yer team is down by one, the bases are loaded, and you're at the plate with a full count.

I wonder what today's kids dream about. I'll betcha it's not something like this.

In 1942, the United States was faced with a severe shortage of pilots, and leaders gambled on an experimental program to help fill the void: Train women to fly military aircraft so male pilots could be released for combat duty overseas. The group of female pilots was called the Women Airforce Service Pilots — WASP for short

WASP (from left) Frances Green, Margaret Kirchner, Ann Waldner and Blanche Osborn leave their B-17, called Pistol Packin' Mama, during ferry training at Lockbourne Army Air Force base in Ohio. They're carrying their parachutes.

People Who Swear Make Better Friends?

Although profanity has long been associated with anger and coarseness, a collaborative team from the Maastricht University in Netherlands, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Stanford and the University of Cambridge determined that people who swear are less likely to be associated with lying and deception .

Because swearing is often used to express unfiltered feelings and sincerity, those who swear often come across, at least, as more honest and genuine. Dr David Stillwell, a lecturer in Big Data Analytics at the University of Cambridge, and a co-author on the paper, explains that the relationship between dishonesty and profanity is somewhat complex.
