Caretaker at historic cemetery in NJ buried garbage in someone’s grave after he was told to clean up the place.

The caretaker of a 300-year-old New Jersey cemetery tasked with cleaning trash and debris from the site, instead dumped it into a indigent grave in which a person had recently been buried, police said.

Eric Rickes, 78, of Rahway, was charged Thursday with desecration of a place of burial following a police investigation that began after they were told he was “discarding waste materials into indigent grave sites” at the Rahway Cemetery, according to a release from the Rahway Police Department.
