And the EU isn't far behind with a similar 'Travel Fee' starting next year. Okay, it's only $ 12.90 per person at today's exchange rate, but multiply that by the number of travellers who visit the UK (England, No. Ireland, Scotland, Wales, etc) and you got a substantial chunk of chage they're ripping you off just for the pleasure of you going to their country where everything is half-again the price it is here. It costs £10 to apply using the UK ETA app or online through GOV.UK.
The United Kingdom welcomes over 30 million international visitors annually, so that's 300,000,000 British pounds a year they're raking from people nice enough to want to visit their country.
How about a reciprocal 'fuck you fee' for them coming here, Mr. President...

Erm, US has required us Brits to apply for an ESTA for at least the last 10 years
ReplyDeleteI heard you needed to get the ETA before you're scheduled to arrive, I figured they wanted to check your social media posts before you arrived so they knew if they wanted to let you in or arrest you... :-)
ReplyDeleteYou saved me the trouble...
ReplyDeleteYou mean a ''fuck you fee' like the ESTA you've been charging since 2008? That kind of 'fuck you fee'? Guess what, "F.....'.
ReplyDeleteGot this for my wife and myself last week just to change planes at LHR in May…not even entering the country…easy process which took less than 15 minutes to complete the application using the app, and getting approved. $13.00 each. However, as you say, another way for the UK ti get more revenue.
