Are ya broke? Join the club...

In fact, the number is slightly higher. 27% of U.S. adults have no emergency savings, as of May 2024 polling — the highest percentage since 2020. People are working hard on their finances to little or no avail. A new Bankrate survey of 1,030 individuals finds that more than half of American adults (56%) lack sufficient savings to shoulder an unexpected $1,000 expense.
Around 35% of households earning less than $50,000 per year are living paycheck to paycheck, up from 32% in 2019. Higher-income households also report struggling, with around 20% of households with more than $150,000 living paycheck to paycheck.

  1. The only debt I have is to the guv and the utility company. 40% total taxes, twice what Egyptian slaves had to pay the Pharaoh. We are slaves whether you like it or not. Thank God for the food banks.

  2. Saw a vid yesterday that a family of four with a house and car payment needs $85k to survive. However the average income is $65 k. Meanwhile people in guv jobs are bringing down 6 figures.

  3. I bet you some of those 27% have the latest iPhone, and the previous latest iPhones laying around in some kitchen drawer.

    1. Yep, and the latest shoes too...and the ladies have the current stylish expensive handbags and I bet they eat out 5 days a week and buy a $7 coffee every morning. Ever notice the poor always have money for booze, cigarettes and makeup?

Debt and poverty is a lifestyle choice. Never doubt it.
