In fact, the number is slightly higher. 27% of U.S. adults have no emergency savings, as of May 2024 polling — the highest percentage since 2020. People are working hard on their finances to little or no avail. A new Bankrate survey of 1,030 individuals finds that more than half of American adults (56%) lack sufficient savings to shoulder an unexpected $1,000 expense.
Around 35% of households earning less than $50,000 per year are living paycheck to paycheck, up from 32% in 2019. Higher-income households also report struggling, with around 20% of households with more than $150,000 living paycheck to paycheck.
The only debt I have is to the guv and the utility company. 40% total taxes, twice what Egyptian slaves had to pay the Pharaoh. We are slaves whether you like it or not. Thank God for the food banks.
ReplyDeleteSaw a vid yesterday that a family of four with a house and car payment needs $85k to survive. However the average income is $65 k. Meanwhile people in guv jobs are bringing down 6 figures.

ReplyDeleteYep, and the latest shoes too...and the ladies have the current stylish expensive handbags and I bet they eat out 5 days a week and buy a $7 coffee every morning. Ever notice the poor always have money for booze, cigarettes and makeup?
