State to us:: Get the hell outta there...

The Federal Government's disaster response agency, FEMA, has been blasted over its slow response to Helene, with those in the path of Milton now warned not to expect immediate federal aid if they choose to ignore evacuation orders.
Kevin Guthrie, head of Florida's Department of Emergency Management, warned Milton could be 'life-threatening' and urged residents under evacuation orders to follow them.
'We are preparing for the largest evacuation we have seen since, most likely, 2017 Hurricane Irma,' he said. Around seven million people were told to evacuate the Sunshine State when Irma hit. This storm is projected to be considerably worse than Irma...

  2. Hang tough Joe. I live in western North Carolina and my area got wiped out with over 200 dead and hundreds missing from hurricane Helene. I was without power and the internet for 10 days. Water was off for 8 days. I hope this current hurricane doesn't cause you any harm. Stay safe my friend.

  5. We thought about retiring to Florida. Lots of really good reasons to live there. And one big honkin' reason not to. So far, we've avoided five category monster disasters, the condo collapse, and the joy of living with thousands and thousands of boomers, mostly from the NorthEast.

we have endured many here in Miss and La. and you can always tell how bad the storm is going to be by how empty the liquor stores are. the old timers know. and they have everything else on hand. it's just a way of life here.
we don't wait on FEMA, we have always rebuilt our own after, f-ck FEMA.
after Katrina we rebuilt our own here in Miss. Bigger and Better in 2 yrs, and it had way more damage than N.O,,.. New Orleans is still waiting for FEMA after 20+ yrs. New Orleans is a sh+t hole to this day.
