This really does exist. You just can't see it on your own...
This is called 'The Pillars of Creation' - it's shape and scope are set off in a kaleidoscope of color from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope’s near-infrared-light view.
The Pillars of Creation are elephant trunk-shaped clouds of gas and dust in the Eagle Nebula, which is located in the Serpens constellation, 6,500–7,000 light-years from Earth. A light-year is the distance that light can travel in one year. In one year, light travels about 5,880,000,000,000 miles or 9,460,000,000,000 kilometers. So, this distance is 1 light-year. Multiply that numbver by 7,000 and that's how far from us it is.
The pillars are made up of cool molecular hydrogen and dust that are being eroded by ultraviolet light from nearby hot stars. The pillars are nicknamed the Pillars of Creation because stars are forming within the clouds. The finger-like protrusions at the top of the clouds are larger than the solar system and are made visible by the shadows of evaporating gaseous globules (EGGs). These EGGs incubate new stars.
The Pillars of Creation became famous in 1995 after NASA's Hubble Space Telescope took a photograph of them.
In June 2024, NASA released a new 3D visualization of the pillars using data from both the Hubble and James Webb space telescopes. The visualization is based on observational data from a science paper led by Anna McLeod, an associate professor at the University of Durham in the United Kingdom. McLeod also served as a scientific advisor on the project. The visualization is the most detailed multiwavelength movie yet of the star-birthing region and takes viewers into the three-dimensional structures of the pillars.
Are we alone in the Universe? No, with no doubt.
ReplyDeleteAre we alone in our galaxy? Most likely, no.
Are we alone in out solar system? To be determined.
IMHO
We see what was happening there 7,000 years ago... what was mankind 7,000 years ago?
ReplyDeleteIf the calculations and technology are accurate all that can be known is that it existed in that form 7,000 years ago.
