They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swinging hot spot
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone?

 
Los Angeles is home to an estimated 25.4 square miles of parking — more land than the entirety of Manhattan. That’s not even counting curbside parking, parking garages and underground parking facilities. Yet, many Angelenos would argue that’s still not enough. Try finding an open (legal) spot on a downtown street on a Saturday night, they’ll argue. What part of the words 'mass transit' don't they understand?
