The condo market is starting to collapse down here. Should we care?

The number of total active condo listings encompassing Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties has nearly tripled in the span of a year as condo owners chafe under the burden of association fees that have risen by nearly 60% over the past five years.  In Miami-Dade, the median monthly condo association fee rose from $567 in 2019 to $900 this year, according to data from real estate website Redfin. You can read more about this problem here.

Myself, I'd never want to live anywhere where I gotta get in an elevator to get in my house, but that's a story for another day. This legislation was born out of that condo that collapsed a couple years ago when a shitload of people were killed because the condo association didn't have the money to do the upgrades to the building that inspectors had said were needed. I feel bad for these people, but ya gotta live with the choices you make. Look at all those people who voted for Uncle Joe and then couldn't bitch when the shit hit the fan.

  1. With all the internet postings on YouTube and other sites, you have to be a complete moron to buy a house with an HOA attached to it. No house is worth the aggravation they provide. While I'm at it, you also have to be a complete moron to order any food that gets delivered thru an app that requires you to tip for service before you get your food. What? You can't drive 2 minutes to get food? Sucks to be you.

  2. I have a third interest Condo in Crescent Beach for the past 30 years. It had been for family only but my sister was renting it on the side. The condo fees have doubled in the past 5 years. There has also been a new roof, porch railing, doors, electronic locks, elevator rebuild, and outside surface refresh in the past 3 years. It is on the rental program for the past year and I almost broke even. Year two I am supposed to make a profit. Bitch sister is pissed because she lost $18k of under the table income that she had been renting on the side prior to the rental program.

  3. $333 difference is about $29 per month. I think something else is going on.
