Costco is selling emergency food and drink survival kits with a shelf life of 25 years. The kits are aimed at Americans wanting to stock up in case of natural disasters in their area, but they also appeal to so-called doomsday preppers fearing the end of the world. The ReadyWise buckets, containing 150 servings - including pasta alfredo and chicken pot pie - are $79.99 after a $20 discount.
Here's the link to see it online.
Anyone ever taste anything that comes out of these kits?
Sounds like MRE's to me. Rarely good, but necessary, I guess...
Is this more of the same shit the "Reverend" Jim Bakker was pimping on his TV show?
ReplyDeletePure poison with salt! I'd rather subsist on cold rice and rat meat!

The stuff is worse than MREs. I have tried several different brands of these survival buckets and they remind me of an old joke, to paraphrase, how do you use survival meals in a bucket? Cook the meal in the bucket, throw away the meal and eat the bucket.
ReplyDeleteGood item to have one of these for trading purposes. Not good for eating.
I actually have 4 buckets of this brand. Heated up a packet of the lasagna with 2 cups boiling water. Needed a little garlic salt, good to go. Was not bad at all.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of carbs in that food survival kit.
ReplyDeleteI noticed a Walmart section of emergency foods (#10 cans for the most part) the other day.
ReplyDeleteIf you are hungry enough ...
ReplyDeleteMost of the proteins in packages like that are soy-based. You can do better by buying components like freeze-dried meats and vegetables and making your own.
