Talk about 'dodging a bullet'...

That little pea shooter bullet was heading right for his jugular. A thick chain necklace likely saved a Colorado man’s life when it stopped a bullet from going through his neck, according to police who called the incident “just incredible.” Police from Commerce City, located just outside of Denver, said the braided metal necklace was the only thing between the man and his maker when he was shot at following an argument with another man on Tuesday.

The roughly half-inch chain worn around the man’s neck stopped a
.22 caliber bullet in its tracks — leaving the shooting victim with only a minor puncture wound, cops said. The rest of his story can be found here.

  1. Half inch chain; <quarter inch slug. OK, astonishing that the slug hit the chain dead center, but this kind of thing is regularly reported. Unsurprising that a .22 cal couldn't go through a piece of metal.
