When prisoner rights make a left turn...

The Post is reporting that Six inmates at a New York prison are so eager to catch next week’s solar eclipse that they’re suing their lockup, claiming the rare spectacle is a “religious event” that they should be allowed to see. The prisoners at Woodbourne Correctional Facility argue the April 8 phenomenon should “warrant gathering, celebration, worship, and prayer,” their federal lawsuit states.

The men include a Baptist, a Muslim, a Seventh-Day Adventist, two practitioners of Santeria and even one atheist — who have all “expressed a sincerely held religious belief that April’s solar eclipse is a religious event that they must witness and reflect on to observe their faiths.”
Isn't it amazing the stupid shit that'll unify people who wouldn't give each other the time of day even if they were standing under Big Ben at noontime?

PS - At some point during the day tomorrow,
this blog will pass 10,000,000 page views.
That's friggin' monumental.
Thanks, guys. I mean it...

  2. Sorry assholes. IMO you shouldnt have any rights whatsoever. Had you acted in a civilized manner in a supposedly civilized society, you wouldnt be there so fuck off.

  3. These prisoners certainly have the right to file a court case arguing their position. Further, as soon as the court rules, I am willing to support the outcome whatever it may be. However, I think they should have filed their case sooner, as I doubt they will get a ruling before 8 April and according to NASA, after the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, the next total solar eclipse that can be seen from the contiguous U.S. will be on Aug. 23, 2044.
