I guess this graph is telling me to move to Hawaii. We were there once, and I was curious how my wife (Japanese by ethnicity, birth and education but a citizen who has lived here more than half her life) would be greeted in stores. (It didn't matter, she's fluent in both languages, but Japanese was most common, I think because she dressed better than most tourists.)
