'Snap out of it...'

I don't normally do obits here, but hats off to Norman Jewison - the director - who died yesterday at the ripe old age of 97. Yes - he directed Moonstruck - certainly in my top five all-time movies.

A 'prized' Jackie Robinson statue was stolen from a public park in Kansas Thursday by thieves who sawed off the bronze sculpture - leaving behind only the iconic baseball player’s feet. The thieves struck sometime during the night at the League 42 baseball fields in McAdams Park, which is also home to the Jackie Robinson Pavilion.
I have a simple question about the headline here - or maybe it's not that simple. What is the point of pointing out that BHM is a coupla days away? Are they trying to impune that this theft is somehow racially motivated? If so, it didn't mention anything about suspects in the story, so why bother mentioning this fact? Is Jackie Robinson - the first black guy in MLB - an icon of such stature that that any defiling of his legacy is blatantly racist in and of itself? I fuckin' hate journalists sometimes, and that's from the friggin' Post, of all places. Juss' sayin'...

In case you didn't see the article, here's the file photo they
used of the statue before the fact with their exact cropping.
Funny how they cut his feet off, too, n'est pas?

An Amish family from Michigan had their horse and buggy stolen during an outing to their local Walmart. Police were called to a Walmart in Sturgis, Michigan, about 93 miles outside the city of Lansing, last Saturday at 5.30pm ET over the stolen buggy. The victims told police that they were shopping inside of the store and found their horse and buggy stolen upon return. Thankfully, a truck driver who was parked in the parking lot witnessed the theft and was able to give a description of the perp to police.
A 31-year-old woman was arrested at a local motel in connection with the stolen horse and buggy. She is being charged with larceny and larceny of livestock, according to the news release.

A New York jury has decided Donald Trump should pay $83,3000,000.00  for 'defaming' columnist E Jean Carroll in 2019 while he was president. The penalty in the civil trial is made up of $18.3m for compensatory damages and $65m in punitive damages.

Given the opportunity, I would beat the living fuck
out of every one of those jurors - male and female -
just on principle.

The cover illustrator probably got paid more than  the author. I had a friend back in the late 70's who used to churn out two of these books a week, with no editing and no rewrites of any kind, and all under bullshit pseudonyms. If I remember correctly, he said he got about $ 200.00 apiece for them. PS? He was a 60-something over-weight, cigar smoking New York jew. Juss' sayin'...

  1. Too bad about that statue, but all statues are fair game now. Can't have ours I don't really care about any of them.
