The New York Post reported earlier today that a group of Catholic nuns on Tuesday sued the board of Smith & Wesson to try to force the gunmaker to abandon the manufacture, marketing and sales of assault-style rifles that have been used in US mass shootings.
The nuns, in a lawsuit filed in state court in Nevada, allege that Smith & Wesson’s directors and senior management exposed the company to significant liability by intentionally violating federal, state and local laws and failing to respond to lawsuits over mass shootings. “These rifles have no purpose other than mass murder,” the nuns said in a statement. Smith & Wesson, which is incorporated in Nevada, did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
I'm sure the nuns came up with this idea themselves. There's no way an outsider (read attorney little brother or nephew) would influence these fine ladies of the cloth to initiate an action like this on their own, am I right?
One more question one a personal note - I wonder if these nuns are from the same order that the nuns who used to beat the living fuck out of me in grade school came from?

That's one way to make me more sympathetic to what the Spanish Socialists did to the Catholic nuns and priests during their civil war. Nuns are apparently a lot less educated and intelligent than they used to be. Since I doubt that S&W intentionally violated any laws, let's hope that this suit gets tossed quickly, and that the nuns lose a bundle of money that would put to better use paying off victims of priest molestation or keeping ownership of cathedrals that had their congregations evaporate.
ReplyDeleteHate to burst your bubble, but the money for the nuns to hire lawyers isn't coming from the Catlick Church. Instead, some anti-gun organization, funded by Bloomberg and others is fronting this, and taking a tax deduction to boot.
DeleteI'm thinking the nuns don't have standing to sue, or can cite any federal, state or local laws that S&W, or any other arms manufacturer has broken.
Just another reason to keep the churches from sticking their noses into government, unless they are ready for government to stick its nose in their business.
I've had very little respect for religious organizations in general and the Catlick Church in particular for years . Now I've got even less.
Ah, used to remember the nun beatingsfondly. Sure beat the heck out of the sex depraved Brothers Catholic high schools had. And if you were a left handed kid like I was it was worse. Especially when you’re old enough to remember them trying to teach you cursive writing using a fountain pen. They thought they could.d beat the lefty out of me with a ruler……SST
ReplyDeleteThere are groups of crazy radical leftist women in America dressing up like, and claiming to be, nuns. Will be interesting to see if these so-called nuns are the crazy imposters.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, those peace loving nuns I watched in Catholic school that grabbed a 9 year old child by the hair and repeatedly slamed his head against a cinder block wall, or maybe it was Sister Mary Hillarian that smacked a 6 year old girl in the mouth (for crying in class) so hard that her lip split open and caused her to bleed all over her desk. Perhaps it was the Assistant Principal Nun that swung a metal Christmas tree stand at my head and face as she screamed at me when I was 8. Ah yes, truly a group that wants to protect fellow humans from harm. 🙄
ReplyDeleteDon’t these self-hating lesbians have any little girls to diddle?
ReplyDeleteThe nuns who taught me grades 4 through 8 gave me the basic foundations of everything I needed to exist, including running my business from 1975 to 2023....I didn't think so at the time, but I owe it all to them....never used algebra in my business, though I did use a lot of basic math and geometry...also, the underrated ability to compose a letter.. .thanks, ladies....it's a shame what your descendants have fallen into...forgot to mention I never went to college...
ReplyDeleteI am a Baptist but I do not think any Religion, Corporation, Charity, or person can sue a Gun Maker for acts that someone does with guns. It would be no different then suing car or plane makers if someone used their vehicle to kill people or the plane makers of the planes on 9/11. This is Leftists trying to get guns away from the American people so they can take over.
ReplyDeleteBut THIS has the added feature of "Shame on you! Quit picking on those nuns! They're just trying to do good!" that the Demanding Mothers, the Brady Bunch, and Bloomberg lack.
DeleteWhy doesn't anyone ever mention the particular order of nuns they were "influenced" by?
ReplyDeleteI did eight years hard time, fist by Notre Dame nuns and then by Carmelite nuns. I also spent a day and a half in a Catholic high school before being "relegated" to my city "public schools", where I coasted first on Merit Roll, then on Honor Roll. All that I learned- I learned because of, and in spite of, those nuns. They prepped me for the real world I would come to face upon graduation.
