This is the world famous Soggy Dollar bar on Jost Van Dyke -
a small island in the British Virgin Islands...
dock on that beach. Wanna go in for a cocktail or lunch?
Ya gotta swim in - they won't even let you dinghy-up onto the shore.
Of course, credit cards are what they get most of the times these days, and it better be a high-limit motherfucker 'cause there ain't nothing budget conscience about this joint.
They're famous for having invented the drink called 'The Painkiller, and I'll tell you from personal experience they are fuckin; GREAT, but damn they're pricey. Check out their 'Ol' Years Day' menu:

Remember it fondly, heavy smoker swimming against the outgoing tide. Good times.
ReplyDeleteThe burgers are a bit pricey, but the rest of the menu - - well! come down to Florida if you think those same menu items will empty your wallet too fast.
ReplyDeletehow do you keep money/cards dry if you have to swim
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Wishing you another great year of posts and health.
ReplyDeleteWith a name like painkiller i expected something more potent than one generous shot of rum. Pusser’s has a good strong flavor, and the Gunpowder version is 109 proof. Use that one. Regular Pusser’s is no stronger than 84 proof, on par with most whiskeys. In Europe it’s watered down to 80 proof, like most weak gin and rum.

We were just at the Soggy Dollar on Dec. 6th. Didn't have any food, just a Painkiller and a few beers! Fun day at the beach! I even bought a Soggy Dollar ball cap.
ReplyDeleteThey also have a live feed on youtube .
ReplyDeleteI will stay home and keep my money in the bank. Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the location, the prices are not that bad
