Legislating stupidity is not a new thing, but it is getting stupider...

All you have to say to remind people how stupid laws cause
more problems than they solve is 'Prohibition'...

The Prohibition era was a period in the United States from 1920 to 1933 during which a nationwide constitutional law prohibiting the production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages was enacted. When it became illegal to make or sell booze, it didn't diminish the public's desire for booze in any way. Demand created a fertile ground for organized crime to flourish, and you know the rest of that story and how that worked out...

So, now they say all new car sales in NJ and 10
other states will have to be EV's by 2035?
Yeah - good luck with that...

New Jersey will require all new car sales to be electric by 2035 with some requirements starting in 2026 as part of a series of new regulations, an administrative official in Gov. Phil Murphy’s office confirmed on Monday.
The rule that will make the mandate possible will be filed by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection on Tuesday, officials in the governor’s office added.
Just as you cannot legislate away demand, you cannot legislate demand, either. It cuts both ways. This kind of law will not hold up in any way, in any state - even the fruits and nuts out in Cali won't go for this. Period.
...

I might need somebody to explain why that's supposed to be funny...

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) signaled that nearly any candidate in the 2024 field, of either party, would be an “upgrade” over another term for former President Trump.
“I’d be happy to support virtually any one of the Republicans - maybe not Vivek [Ramaswamy] - but the others that are running would be acceptable to me.

U.S. airlines lose 2 million suitcases a year. Where do they all go?
When luggage and its owner can't be reunited, airlines sell it to a store in Alabama, where its contents are sold to the public. The result is a grab bag of normal and odd things people travel with.
This is a pretty cool story. Find it here:

Over 2,500 cases have been filed under the ASA, court data shows. 'Survivors' have sued some of the state’s most powerful men, from politicians, including NYC Mayor Eric Adams and Trump, to major players in entertainment, such as Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, Axl Rose, P Diddy, and photographer Terry Richardson.
Don't read me wrong here - sexual assault is real and there should be consequences for anyone - male or female - who is found guilty in criminal court, No one will dispute that. This law was different. It had nothing to do with punishing criminals and everything to do with an out-and-out fuckin' money grab invented by lawyers so they could go out and find 'plaintiffs' to represent. Despicable fuckin' behavior at it's best. Shakespeare was right, goddamn it...

The cats won't drink the beer- don't believe that bullshit.
They will lick the condensation offf of the outside of the can.
How do I know this to be true? I've been trying to get my cat
drunk for three years with no luck, that's how...

  1. We had prohibition during covid lockdown, sale & transportation of alcohol was banned. We brewed strong pineapple beer and illegally purchased beer, wine & spirits smuggling it in our cars, booze prices were hectic. We joked that we were like the US in moonshine days. Pineapple prices doubled or tripple and yeast was in short supply. Cigarettes were also banned but you could still buy them at 5-10x the normal price. The cigarettes were black market so the gov lost all the tax revenue. We drank more during lockdown than normally. I live on the outskirts of town close to a farm were we all gathered for bbq and drinks ignoring social distancing ang curfew laws.

    1. Probably got pretty good at washing the yeast and reusing it. Freeze distillation is easier than heat distillation., neither are legal without a license in the US.

  2. You could date the beginning of the decline of reverence for 'law & order' and for the Constitution with the enactment of the 18th Amendment. Prior Amendments were restrictions on or guidance to government. Prohibition was a limitation on 'We the People'

  3. I’ve always agreed with you that it’s time for DJT to just go away into that quiet night. But it’s also high time that gas bag Mitt Romney takes a hike too. What an A/Hole! Romney still has a stinger in his ass that he lost to Obama

Running a check here on the SS Cost of Living increase. After Medicare cost increase, mine worked out to about a dollar a day.
Oh, and before any deductions, my monthly benefit and another thirty cents would equal the cash being handed out to an illegal.
    Fuck Joe Biden.
