  2. Had a guy mention to me once when I was stupid that a .223 round would go through 1/4" mild steel plate like a hot knife through butter. I didn't believe him. So, the very next day Ii took a 2 foot by 2 foot 1/4" plate to the range. This was before all the hot M109 ammo was out, just 55 grain ball. It does indeed go through 1/4" plate. In face it goes through and makes a hole big enough to put a .357 bullet through that hole.
I had to hunt the guy down and apologize to him.

  3. Back during the famous LA bank robbery, everybody found out that the lowly 7.62x39 would go through the whole car (missing the engine) and wound the cop hiding back by the trunk. Nobody but the baddies died in that legendary shoot out.

  4. Frank Hammer of Bonny & Clyde fame. Found out that .45 acp fired from Tommy Guns. Were not to good about piercing car doors and bodies of the auto's of the day. He switched to a 30.06 BAR just like Bonny and Clyde.
