New York Post reporting - The US Department of Health and Human Services has recommended lowering federal penalties and restrictions on marijuana by lowering its drug classification.
HHS suggested that the Drug Enforcement Administration reduce the devil’s lettuce from a Schedule I drug — a classification that includes heroin and LSD — to a Schedule III drug, alongside ketamine and some anabolic steroids, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Wednesday.
“HHS has done the right thing,” Schumer (D-NY) said in a statement. “DEA should now follow through on this important step to greatly reduce the harm caused by draconian marijuana laws.”
Rescheduling the drug could ease or even end the criminal prosecution of weed users. Schedule I drugs are classified by the DEA as substances that have no “currently accepted” medical use in the US, “a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision, and a high potential for abuse.”

ReplyDelete"The Republicans WANT to send you to jail for using a harmless plant!"
It is currently classified as having ZERO medicinal value by the useless feds, despite the federal government holding a patent, nearly every state having legalized MEDICINAL cannabis, even if they oppose recreational use, and so many other hypocrisies. You either own your own body or you are the government's property. No middle ground when it comes to freedom.
ReplyDeleteSen. Schumer could just write a bill to drop it to level 3. This is him playing the gullible into thinking he's powerless and for others that he's against lightening the laws against "DRUGS", also would we then cut the budget for the DEA?
ReplyDeleteNo where in the US Constitution is the Federal Government given any privilege to regulate plants, drugs, light bulbs, stoves, or guns. If you support the Federal War on Americans (AKA The War on (some) Drugs) you are just another big government, Anti American progressive.
ReplyDeleteMy god, we wanted to legalize it in the late 60's early 70's....they're only 50 years late....I guess they had to wait until all the congressmen had collected their payoffs from it being illegal...
