Everybody's gotta be pissed off at something sooner or later, no matter what...

More often than not, religion gets in the way of common sense, especially when it's common sense to just say, 'Nah - that's just not for me'.
Case in point? Who cares what's in a movie. It's like that Rushti guy getting a contract put out on him for writing something in a book or the cartoonist in France - more stupidity.
Gimme a fuckin' break, already. Here's the article:

  1. It's those Hindu officials who attacked their own cultural heritage. Bhagavad Gita is a holy book, but by any non-tortured reading it's also a sex manual. IMO, the best thing about Hinduism has always been that it avoided the warped attitudes about sex of the Judeo-Christian-Muslim world - but the Indian government is horrified by that.

They also object to "I am Vishnu the Destroyer Of Worlds", which is a direct quote from the book. In the Trimurti, the Hindu Trinity, Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver, and Shiva the destroyer are all three essential parts of the cycle of the world. But in the central dialogue of this book, Vishnu in disguise as Krishna has tried to negotiate a peace and found one side unreasonably rejecting negotiations and offering nothing. So he flies to the other side, and dons his disguise again to advise Prince Arjuna, the leading general of the other side. Arjuna is greatly distressed by the bloodshed that will come with the war, and thinking of simply surrendering. Vishnu assumes his godly form and utters "I am Vishnu the Destroyer Of Worlds". This appears at odds with Vishnu's usual role, but I guess he is making the point that Arjuna is in a position where preservation requires great destruction, and the world needs him to do his job and fight the war.

And this is how Oppenheimer expressed what he thought of his work developing the A-bomb. It was horrible - but it saved tens of millions of lives by deterring the Japanese from making a suicidal last stand. The Indian government official is objecting both to history, and to an accurate quote from his holy books - I presume because this official doesn't like that part of his religion's theology. That is, he is one of those woolly-headed leftist tools who won't make the hard decisions, even when not doing what is necessary lets the really evil leftists assume power and cause much more death and destruction...
