And VietNamese in Okla-friggin'-homa? I don't get it...

  1. The most common language after English in Connecticut is Spanish. French would a ways down the list near Polish and Portuguese.

    Sorry NJ, that's not Italian you think you're speaking. It's Jerseytalian, a warped mix of half a dozen regional Italian dialects, a bunch of words old folks remember their grandmas using, and a big bunch of attitude.

  3. Hmong in Minnesota, Vietnamese In Nebraska, Texas and OK are all the byproduct of (mostly Lutheran) church sponsored immigration support programs after the fall of 'Nam. At one point, Lincoln NE supposedly had more Vietnamese per capita than any other city outside the country of Vietnam

  5. It's the meat packing plants. Here in Nebraska we have Spanish and whatever language Somalis garble though I've seldom seen Vietnamese.
