Maybe all of those self-proclaimed 'social justice warriors' will come

New York Post - Texas’ woke capital, Austin, is in the midst of a policing crisis with over 300 vacancies and cops quitting because they feel disrespected. “We’re right there with Portland and Seattle and San Francisco as being one of those places where if you’re at all conservative or in law enforcement, it’s become a hostile place,” Lt. Brian Moon, who retired last month, told The Post of the city he protected for 23 years.
Another 77 officers are expected to retire before the end of March — on top of 264 existing vacancies, according to the Austin Police Association. Austin Police Department’s staffing is so bad, 911 calls are being redirected to the 311 non-emergency number because there aren’t enough cops to solve crimes.
“If you come home and find your home burglarized, calls like that are now going to 311,” said police union president Thomas Villarreal. “You’re not getting a police response to many property crimes if it’s not a violent crime that is currently ongoing.”

If you can, always tip in cash - don't add the tip to your credit card bill. You know why. If I have to explain this to you, you should stay the fuck home. 'Nuff said...

The latest polls place Ron DeSantis and Joe Biden
in a footrace for 2024. Scary, isn't it?
Florida’s 44-year-old Republican governor leads the octogenarian president by a whisker. More Americans like DeSantis than otherwise. Whether he can capture the Republican nomination, however, remains an open question. He has not yet declared his candidacy and trails Donald Trump in hypothetical matchups. Then again, no one else comes close.

There's still some old shit I like to listen to, sure, but I gotta be honest with y'all. I cannot listen to 'classic rock' stations on the radio any more. If I hear 'Welcome to the Jungle' or 'Stairway to Heaven' one more time, my brain might explode. Most of these stations - no matter what market they're in - have a song rotation that caps out at about 65 or 70 songs max, because their format is based on one-time listeners. Think that's bullshit? I don't. And nobody plays 'B' sides anyore - even the college stations (if any still exist the way I remember them). What's worse is where I live is between two mid-market cities (Orlando and Gainesville/Ocala) so the pickin' on the radio are slim at best. When we moved here seven years ago, I dubbed it 'radio hell' and that still holds true.
We have one all-conservative/all-day station, about 180 Jesus stations, coupla spanish stations at the end of the dial, far too many hip hip stations (who listens to that shit?), four or so NPR/College stations and a buncha Top 40 Country stations and that''s about it.

There’s something different about the lead-up to the World Baseball Classic (WBC) this year. Don’t take my word for it – the players themselves have noticed. “The hype is a little bit higher this time around,” according to Nolan Arenado, the St Louis Cardinals’ All-Star third baseman. “There’s more guys that want to play on the US team this year.”
Historically the team from the Dominican Republic has dominated the tournament, winning nearly 75% of their games. This year Great Britain and Italy will be fileding teams for the first time. Hopefully, it'll get a little bit of TV coverage.

Well, NJ is pretty famous for doing stupid shit. The best one in my recollection is the ladder fire truck Hightstown NJ bought a while ago. The truck at that time was the largest ladder truck in the world at 137 feet. Tallest building in Hightstown was 2 stories tall.
ReplyDeleteIs my math wrong, or was Rossington around 13 when he joined the band in 1964?
