started fires and threatened the president's home in angry scenes. French president Macron sparked the fury of workers and his political opponents after using an emergency presidential decree to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64.
Thousands of people took to the streets of Paris, lighting fires, vandalising buildings and clashing with police. Police have fired tear gas to keep the furious mob away from the Elysee Palace.
Overnight police officers charged the demonstrators in waves to clear the area. Small groups then moved through nearby streets in the chic Champs-Elysees neighbourhood, setting fires.
They're talking here about raising SSI minimum age to 70. I wonder if all those out-of-work BLM and Antifa dooshbags would riot if that happened...
Makes me wonder if most of the rioters were young people. And rather these young people were working a job in the first place so that they may earn their retirement pension.
ReplyDeleteDon't the French already only work a 30 hour week with 8 weeks paid vacation anyway? What on earth is their gripe??
ReplyDeleteNo, the BLM/Pantifa gang would not riot. Why should they, as they don't have jobs. The longer you work, the more than can mooch.

Does anyone think it might be a good idea to remove the cap on SS payments for paychecks that are in place now for incomes above a certain level?....I don't know what the relief on the system would amount to but it might be substantial....while you're at it, apply the social security tax to all incomes, not just payroll....I would think that would cure any insolvency issues with the SS trust....what a misnomer that is.....trust my ass....
ReplyDeleteI'd be happy if the .gov would stop taxing my Social Security benefits.
DeleteRemember that the French put out the white flag for the Nazis virtually without firing a shot in WW-2.
