37-year-old Natalie Jade Jarvis of Florida, armed with a blowtorch and a repurposed school bus, painted with graffiti, led authorities in St. Tammany Parish on a chase during rush hour that ended in downtown Covington when she crashed into a fence on the grounds of St. Scholastica Academy. St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt Suzanne Carboni said it all started at 6 AM when they received a call from a Mandeville gas station.
They said a lady came into the gas station carrying a blow torch, it was not lit at the time, and they said she was looking for the child welfare office,” said Carboni. Carboni said Jarvis had been living in Louisiana at a nearby state park for the last month and a man that was believed to have been living with her was arrested on domestic charges. Carboni said at that time a child was taken into state custody. As for a motive for this morning’s chase…
“She was very mad apparently concerning with the incident from last month where the man was arrested.”
“She’s been charged with aggravated flight, terrorizing, weapons on a school property, aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce, a hit and run, simple criminal damage, and reckless driving,” said Carboni. The bus had Virginia tags and chickens had also been living in the bus.
