Waking up in a hurricane is never fun. Trust me...

Yeah - it really doesn't work like that...
...

From its first stirrings Nicole was destined for weirdness - an oddball system goaded to life by a pinched-off piece of the jet stream tugging tropical air north during a time of year that’s supposed to be more winter than summer, more dry season than hurricane season.
Seas 2 degrees warmer than normal nourished Nicole, but dry air choked it from the south. The wind field stretched an astounding 460 miles, but mostly on the north side, making it look on forecast maps like a lima bean or a hot air balloon or a Hubba Bubba bubble blown by a little kid.
“This is not the way you normally get a hurricane,” said Joel Klein, tropical program coordinator with the National Weather Service. “There is no big beautiful eye. It’s lopsided. It’s hurt on one side.”
This is only the second time in recorded history that the Florida Peninsula has experienced a hit from a hurricane in November.

There’s unrest at 30 Rock over the decision to sign up Dave Chappelle to host “Saturday Night Live” this weekend. We’re told that some staff writers are so furious that the comedy superstar - who has made what some people have labeled transphobic and homophobic jokes but were actually just the truth put in a comic perspective - has been chosen to helm the iconic show that they’re sitting out the episode.“They’re not going to do the show,” an insider said. “But none of the actors are boycotting.” Chappelle hasn't said shit about this but his rep said something like 'there was nothing to suggest that there was a boycott when they attended writers’ meetings this week'.
Chappelle was at 30 Rock on Tuesday meeting with writers and producers and his rep told us “there was no evidence of a boycott - the room was full of writers. They all pitched ideas and they seemed very excited about it. Dave is looking to have some fun.”

After the announcement, “SNL” writer Celeste Yim reportedly wrote on Instagram Stories: “I’m trans and non-binary. I use they/them pronouns. Transphobia is murder and it should be condemned.”
It is unclear if she/he/them/they is/was/are one of the writers boycotting this week’s show or if she/he/them/they were actually referring to Chappelle. They did not get back to me/myself/I/us when me/myself/I/us tried to find out what exactly the fuck is their problem.
(Well, okay - I'll admit that me/myself/I/us didn't really try all that hard to find out anything because me/myself/I/us don't really give a shit about this kinda stuff. Me/myself/I/us just likes pointing out the foolishness of some people.)

President Joe Biden said on Wednesday he would support a U.S. government review of the foreign investors backing Elon Musk’s $44 billion Twitter purchase.
Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal and his Kingdom Holding Company have become the second largest investor in Twitter since Musk officially bought the platform in late October. Alwaleed has had a large share in the social media site since 2011 and chose to roll over its ownership after Musk took over. And foreign investment in Twitter has led to a call from Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) for a government review over potential national security concerns.

That might explain the whole Fetterman thing...

Our 'leaders' spend our money worse than a buncha drunken sailors and we don't do a single fuckin' thing to stop them from doing it. How does that make sense?
The gross national debt in America has hit new heights, surpassing $31 trillion, according to a recent U.S. treasury report. If you find that hard to wrap your head around, it basically boils down to more than $93,000 of debt for every person in the country. And with the dramatic rise in interest rates over the past few months - the Fed funds rate is currently between 3.7% and 4% - the national debt will be growing at a rate that makes it even harder to ignore.

And yet our President says that economy is in good shape and there is no 'real' inflation. Why do we tolerate that level on ineptitude in our leaders?

This could have been one of the greatest 'short plays' of all time. Who could have known?

Carvana, the used car dealer that trusts robotic algorithms to buy your car practically sight unseen, was the third-fastest company to ever make it onto the Fortune 500 — only Amazon and Google did it faster. But for the third day in a row, its stock is trading for just around $7 a share, plummeting 98 percent from its all-time high of over $360 last August.

Say, just for the fuck of it, that last August you saw things going down the shitter (don't deny it - we all did but we didn't do shit about it) and you looked at the crazy-ass valuation of this company - a company that has never made a single friggin' penny of profit throughout it's existence. If you, like me - have a brokerage account - you could have taken a short position in this stock back in August, just say. Say ya shorted 2,000 shares at $ 350.00. That's a no-cash out of pocket trade that is super risky, but forget that shit. If you had covered your short position yesterday and made a tidy $ 680,000.00+/- profit without actually putting one slim fricken' penny outta yer wallet. Convince me I'm wrong on this...

  1. With that shorted stock, what would have happened if it didn't go down or it went up?

    1. if it didn't move, nothing. If it went up you'd have to pay the difference between strike points, IE: If you shorted at 350 and it went to 370 and you wanted to get out, you'd pay the 20 dollar difference. Capeesh?

  2. 1. been watching Nicole ever since it began as little bump (along with quite a few others at various times this year) in/around the passageway between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico; it seems that the waters are warmer than usual in that area. Then I checked the tremors/earthquakes map for that region and it appears that there have been more tremors than usual in that area over the past couple of weeks; is magma rising nearer to the surface along the fault between the two islands, might the two events be connected?
    2. I would certainly support a U.S. government review of the foreign investors backing the POTUS, particularly those in Far East (PRC) and Middle East (mullahs, inc.) forget Mr. Musk; he's not running the printing presses at top speed, he's not giving our oil away to our enemies.

  3. I have a buddy that lives a block from the ocean at Ormond by the Sea. His house is built on an embankment that is almost 3 feet above the road elevation. Sea water was 7 inches below the house elevation and of course the power is out but he does have a generator. He said waves were washing over A1A and down the street once the retention pond filled.
