This just in from the 'You can't make this shit up' Department. Holy spuds, batman...

A driver was pulled over by California Highway Patrol for speeding with a giant 8,000-pound spud on his overweight truck. Indy Lights motorsport driver Sting Ray Robb, 21, peeled through the fan village of the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey lugging the mammoth faux potato, which measured 72 feet long and 13 feet high, the Idaho Statesman reported.
A video posted on Twitter shows a bemused Robb holding up the tater ticket which cited him for driving a vehicle that was 12,000 pounds overweight, and for going 63 mph in a 55 mph zone. “It was an epic weekend at #montereygrandprix with the Big Idaho Potato Tour truck there to support & cheer for this #GrownInIdaho race car driver!”

  3. I understand the speeding ticket. An 8000 pound spud on a tricked out lowboy trailer should have been 35k pounds under max weight. There are two chains so if it is 5/16th chain he would need a third chain. Two 3/8th chain would have had a ton to spare as far as limits go. Most lowboy drivers have both size chains and binders.

  4. Newsflash.....most cops who write up commercial vehicles can't be bothered to actually WEIGH the vehicle when they issue an "overweight" citation. They just guess and start writing. They pay NO PENALTY for their lies and willfull incompetence.
