Payback's a bitch - this robbery 'victim' turned the tables on his two attackers and shot at least one attacker after wrestling a gun from one of the bad guys.
Illegal firearm violence is soaring in crime-ridden Philadelphia, the inappropriately nicknamed 'City of Brotherly Love'.
The dramatic moment captured above shows when one guy is shot after the purported victim was successful in wrestling a gun off a thief. It happened before a harrowing night of gun violence in Philadelphia that saw three separate shootings and six people left in critical condition. The man appeared to use his initial attacker as a human shield, forcing the second robber to hesitate before firing his weapon.
The victim finally gets the gun into his hands and a brief shoot-out ensues at just yards' distance.
The second attacker falls to the ground, apparently shot, firing back at the hero, while the original thief flees for his life in the opposite direction. The pair then flee together in their dark SUV, which police said was possibly an Infiniti.
The victim was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital and was listed as in stable condition.
The crime took place at the intersection of Cheltenham Ave and Erdrick St in the Wissinoming neighborhood of northeast Philadelphia a little before 1.40pm on July 11.
Police said they are looking for witnesses after the man was left in the street with gunshot wounds to his buttock and left ankle on Monday.
The Shooting Investigation Group of the Philadelphia Police Department described the first robber as a Hispanic male of thin build, black hair and wearing a black hoody over a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
The second was also Hispanic and of thin build, wearing a white tank top and maroon shorts with a black design on the sides.
In separate incidents across the city, four teenagers were gunned down in front of an apartment complex and are in critical condition, while a car containing two 20-year-old women and two young infants was riddled with bullets. The shootings are the latest in a wave of gun violence that is sweeping Philly, with the city seeing at least 264 fatal and 1,011 non-fatal shootings this year alone already, according to City Controller Rebecca Rhynhart. Police said they are looking for witnesses after a 46-year-old man was left in the street with gunshot wounds to his buttock and left ankle on Monday.
