and he's hopping mad about getting caught...
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A kangaroo in Alabama is not something you see every day, but some people were able to catch a glimpse of one as it hopped along the last couple of days.
The kangaroo - that had gotten loose in the West Point community of Cullman County - has been caught.
On Monday afternoon, a kangaroo that has been referred to as “Jackie Legs” on social media was caught less than half a mile from where it was being kept in Cullman County, according to owner Eli Morton. The same kangaroo, which had escaped Sunday night, had previously gotten out earlier this year, according to news reports.
This is not the first marsupial sighting in Alabama. Last March, a different kangaroo got loose in Winfield, Alabama and was subsequently caught. According to Braxton Basinger of B and H Livestock, he originally bought that kangaroo in Mississippi and was planning to sell it to a customer in Tennessee later in the week.
While keeping it at his property in Winfield, one of Basinger’s employees was trying to get the kangaroo out of a trailer when it got loose.
“You have to grab them buy the tail to have control over them,” Basinger told CBS 42 after the re-capture. “He grabbed him by the tail, but he didn’t have a good grip on him. Next thing I know, he’s going down the driveway.”
