Located about an hour north of Orlando, The Villages reclaims the top spot on our list for 2022. It's not for everyone, but more retirees moved to The Villages last year than any other place in Florida, so it at least deserves a look from anyone retiring in the Sunshine State.
Because of its sheer size and scale, The Villages is unlike any other place or community you'll encounter in Florida - or any place else in the world for that matter.
Residents have access to an amazing collection of golf courses (The Villages is home to more than 50 golf courses, each providing unique features and designs, complemented by picturesque views, beautiful greens and fairways), recreation centers, and town squares, as well as an unparalleled number of clubs covering just about any topic you can imagine. With all of the advantages that The Villages offers to its residents, it is no wonder that it consistently ranks as the fastest growing community in the entire country, and is consistently among the top three places recommended each year.
There are a lot of stories - mostly untrue and misguided - about The Villages, but all in all it's a great - and surprisingly affordable - place to live.
