Pissing on the Rock & Roll Hall of Shame...

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has declined Dolly Parton's request to
pull her nomination. The country legend wrote Monday on social media that although she was "flattered and grateful" for the honor, she was concerned her presence on the ballot would split votes. "I don't feel I have earned that right," she wrote.

But after a few days of radio silence on the matter, the organization confirmed on Thursday that she'll remain on the ballot, in part because voting is already well underway.
"Dolly’s nomination, along with the other 16 artists for the class of 2022, was sent out earlier this month to our 1,200 general ballot voters, the majority of whom are artists themselves, for consideration for induction at our ceremony," the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said in a statement provided to USA TODAY. "We are in awe of Dolly’s brilliant talent and pioneering spirit and are proud to have nominated her for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

She has as much to do with rock & roll as does ABBA. Good for her for pointing out how incredibly friggin' insipid that whole place is...

  1. I grew up listening to her, (through my parents)and as much as I love her music and attitude... She doesn't need to be in the R&R hall of fame. There have been too many legit Rock acts that have been passed over. This seems like a "feel Good" nomination. She is Country 100%, she is a legend, let's leave it that way.

  2. When I think of rock and roll, Dolly Parton is the first one who comes to mind. When I think of country, Mick Jagger.
