It now appears that ain't gonna do ya any good, so why do we listen to them anymore?
A new study out of Columbia University says the Omicron variant is “markedly resistant” to vaccines and boosters might not do much to help, spelling bad news for the country as Omicron spreads and COVID-19 cases rise nationally.
“A striking feature of this variant is the large number of spike mutations that pose a threat to the efficacy of current COVID-19 vaccines and antibody therapies,” according to the study authored by more than 20 scientists at Columbia and the University of Hong Kong.

It won't be too much longer until we start to explore the universe with NASA's James Webb Space Telescope. Hubble has helped pave Webb’s scientific path by making preparatory observations. For example, Hubble surveyed the star cluster Westerlund 2, located about 20,000 light-years away.
One of Webb’s main goals is to observe the birth of stars and protoplanetary systems. Using Hubble, astronomers looked for binary stars in their earliest stages of development, where they are likely to be surrounded by protoplanetary disks – disks of dense gas and dust that encircle newly formed stars and eventually form into planets. Westerlund 2 contains many binary stars, and is a prime candidate for future Webb observations.
Webb will launch no earlier than December 24. With its powerful infrared vision, our view of the universe is about to change forever. With their complementary abilities, Hubble and Webb will work together to give us a more complete understanding of our universe.

This is Don Featherstone. An artist and designer, he is also the creator of the original Plastic Lawn Flamingo (while he was working for the Union Products Company in Massachusetts). He's pictured on his own front lawn in 1957. The State of Florida should name a highway after this guy...

“A pension system with older demographics is less able to handle investment risk, and fewer active workers supporting a growing number of retirees is accelerating pressure for more, not less, government funding.”
Demographics are destiny and the future is already here. GSI noted that the police and firefighters fund (considered one of the better funded) nevertheless had more people collecting than paying into it as of 2019. Two other plans are following a similar course.
The numbers were already daunting: the state’s plans’ combined unfunded liability has exploded from $58 billion in 2000 to a whopping $186 billion two decades later (as of 2019). Despite increased investment by the public sector union-allied Murphy Administration, the numbers will remain daunting without major changes such as the implementation of a 401(k)-style alternative.

a gift something as nice as this?
Omicron came out of a lab, bred and trained for over a year to evade immunity. Be glad this is the ultra weak version, released just to ramp up 4Q vax sales. Because you know they built the "you're dead in 3 days" version too. From what I've read, this variant is so different from all the rest it may as well be a different disease altogether.
