Back in 1980, what did your stereo system look like?

This is very close to what I had
 (before I was married)...

...

And to this day I still have this amp. It lives in
my garage shop now and still sounds unbelievable...

  1. I had a Pioneer 1010 receiver, a Dokorder 7100 (I think) reel-to-reel, and a pair of Bose 901 speakers. I forget the brand for the turntable and the cassette deck. Later on, I had an Audio Pulse Model 1, a second amp, and two Bose 301 speakers for the delayed sound.

  2. The 901's have an incredible sound. The lady who owns the house I'm working on has a pair in her living room

  3. I had the sx 1980....270 watts per channel feeding a pair of custom built 901's with bass speakers built into the end tables....cabinets and tables built out of sunrise beech....the 1980 looked like 3 mile island when you looked down through the grill and it weighed a ton....you couldn't stay in the room with it much above level 4 on the volume....true wattage as opposed to rated wattage....those were fun days, listening to the pops and sizzles from the LP's of the day....trying to get people to handle the records on the edges was impossible....using the damper to lower the stylus was a must....I am a fan of records but CD's are an improvement as far as I'm concerned...miss the album covers, though.....a great tool to de seed a lid....
