Looking forward to Trump leaving office? I am. Sorta.

I am just so sick of opening the news every morning and having to revisit the incessant Trump-bashing...

It seems incredible to me that 80,000,000 people in this country think Joe is a better choice than The Big D, but that's just me.

The Jewish couple that just moved in down
the block bought the house fully-furnished.

The number of people moving here is frightening.

Leslie West, Mountain Frontman and Hard Rock Guitar Legend, Dead at 75

Leslie West, best known as the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of hard-rock progenitors Mountain, died yesterday due to cardiac arrest. West, who was in Palm Coast, Fla., at the time of his passing, was 75. On Monday night, Dec. 21, West’s brother, Larry West Weinstein, posted on his Facebook page, “I am asking for all your prayers. Jenni is by his side in Florida but it’s not looking good. Thanks Jenni, he wouldn’t have made it this far without you.” (Jenni refers to West’s wife Jenni Maurer.

From the start of his career in the late ’60s, everything about Leslie West was larger than life. A plus-sized fellow, he had a guitar sound that matched—loud, fiery, fast and overpowering—and a voice that didn’t know the meaning of soft. When the history of heavy rock is traced today, it invariably points to him as one of the origin points—it was no accident that he called his band Mountain.

Leslie & Frampton dueting on Mississippi Queen at the Paramount Theater. I've probably seen Leslie play - with and without Mountain - at least three dozen times. This motherfucker had a great style.
PS: Mississippi Queen is my wife's ringtone on my cell.

This is borrowed from a friend. I just like the sentimental view on it...

In 1965, Charles Schulz, a devout Christian and creator of the Peanuts comic strip, was asked to create a Christmas special for CBS featuring the Peanuts Characters. He agreed with one requirement, that they allow him to include the story of the birth of Jesus. Although the stations executives were hesitant and tried to convince him otherwise, Schulz was insistent. As a result, for the past 50 plus years, millions of people have watched and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and heard the story of Jesus and “what Christmas is all about.”

It wasn’t until a few years back that I realized a “hidden message” in the film. Linus, a child who seems to have some insecurities as he carries a security blanket with him at all times. In fact, Linus NEVER drops his blanket, except once. While sharing the message of “what Christmas is all about,” Linus drops his blanket at the exact moment he says the words, “fear not!”

In this seemingly innocent moment, Linus delivers a powerful reminder of the true meaning of Christmas. We are to “fear not”, for Jesus is born. We needn’t rely on material things for security, we have God with us, “Immanuel”, (Matthew 1:23) Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior - the true meaning of Christmas.

Awhile back, someone informed me, indignantly so, that Linus picks up his blanket at the end of the speech so my interpretation must be wrong. Well, he was right, Linus does pick up his blanket at the end of his speech. However, he “drops” it again later...

Amid big, bright, colorful, shiny artificial trees, Charlie Brown chose the least of these, a little, wooden tree with just a few branches. Shortly thereafter, Linus uses his blanket to wrap about the base of the tree and says, “Maybe it just needs a little love”. In that moment, the tree “awakens”, stands tall and firm. A reminder that no matter who we are, how many mistakes we’ve made, a “little love” can make all the difference.

Florida will ensure seniors will receive priority for the coronavirus vaccine over frontline workers, Gov. Ron DeSantis announed Wednesday.
"We want to work to get this out to our senior population. We think that's very important to reducing mortality, reducing the number of people that need to be hospitalized for COVID-19"

You should all be so lucky to have a Governor this level-headed.

I clicked on a link that said 'Show me the stupidest fucking thing you possibly can this morning'. This popped up:

There's a very special feeling you get when you're tooling down A1A and you reach this sign. If you've never been to the Keys you're missing out on one of the coolest places in the country. Juss' sayin'...

I grew up with a kid named Nicky  Dominico. This is his father Sam working on Christmas candles at the Candle Craft Company in Newark in 1956. I stumbled across this yesterday. Too cool.

This is Macy's in NYC the way I remember it as a kid. MY grandmother Camille lived in Manhattan and we'd go over every year to see the store windows all over town. Great memories.

Check out this nasty little mofo...

With a twenty-first-century take on an eighteenth-century weapon, the Diablo features two six-inch polished nickel smooth-bore barrels that can be fired independently using a selector on the hammer. It uses a conventional 209 primer breech plug design, and AGC recommends a 1/2 ounce shot with 40gr of FFG. As a muzzle-loading firearm, the Diablo does not require a background check before purchase and can be shipped directly to the customer’s home address.

American Gun Craft calls it the “legal-to-own answer for the modern sawed-off double barrel shotgun” and “quite possibly one of the most powerful handguns ever made.” They recommend the handgun for home and auto defense and claim it “offers the best close quarters deploy-ability of any shotgun.”

I get a huge kick out of tabloids - especially the NY Post

A crocheted Bikini Simplicity pattern from the 70s. Can imagine her going to her grandmother and asking her to knit one of them for her? I actually do remember seeing on the beach back in the day, but I can't imagine they were home-made...

This may be the Sunshine State and all that happy shit, but Florida does get a little nipply this time of year. In the mornings it can be in the low 40's for quite a while till the sun kicks in. What I do - kinda like Sheldon on Big Bang - is wear a long-sleeve T-shirt under a short-sleeve one. That way if it does get a little toasty during the day (usually gets up to mid 70-ish), I just peel one off and I'm good for the rest of the day.

I found a good source for a great t-shirt.
You might wanna check it out for yourself. It's here:

  1. A sincere Merry Christmas to you and yours. I’m shucking and cleaning clams for tonight’s baked clam appetizer. And I started drinking cold Amstels at 9ish, after the first buzz kicks in,I’ll take a snooze and get ready for tonight’s festivities. Naturally the little lady is disgusted, I said what the hell,I’ve been up since 4:30 chasing down the clams and other seafood in Chicago. The way I look at it I owe it to myself. I guess I’ll have to perform the “chore” later on, that will keep her quiet for another year!
