Lottsa questions, very few answers

Is that the correct way to spell 'lottsa'?

I doubt it...

Lashana Lynch, a black, British-born actress playing 007 in the 2021 film, “No Time to Die,” brushed off negative comments she received when her iconic role was announced.

The 32-year-old told Harper’s Bazaar UK that she realized the criticism would be the same had any other black actress taken on the task of being the first female to play 007.

“I am one Black woman — if it were another Black woman cast in the role, it would have been the same conversation, she would have got the same attacks, the same abuse,” she said. “I just have to remind myself that the conversation is happening and that I’m a part of something that will be very, very revolutionary.”
Revolutionary. Seriously. Seriously? Jeezzzzz.

Bill Watterson on why we won't
ever see a 'Calvin and Hobbes' Movie

The famously reclusive cartoonist breaks his silence about his much-loved newspaper cartoon strip.

Bill Watterson, the reclusive cartoonist behind Calvin & Hobbes, has finally broken his silence about his work on the classic newspaper strip, and part of the interview has been released online ahead of the official release of the whole thing -- including the reason why Watterson will never allow a movie version of the strip.

"The visual sophistication of Pixar (and other CGI) blows me away, but I have zero interest in animating Calvin and Hobbes," Watterson told Jake Rossen via e-mail in a piece for Mental Floss magazine. "If you’ve ever compared a film to a novel it’s based on, you know the novel gets bludgeoned. It’s inevitable, because different media have different strengths and needs, and when you make a movie, the movie’s needs get served. As a comic strip, Calvin and Hobbes works exactly the way I intended it to. There’s no upside for me in adapting it."

He went on to say that the myth of his control over the strip was just that, and that he "did not have incredible autonomy" until the strip's completion. "I had signed most of my rights away in order to get syndicated, so I had no control over what happened to my own work," Watterson explained. "I could not take the strip with me if I quit, or even prevent the syndicate from replacing me, so I was truly scared I was going to lose everything I cared about either way. I made a lot of impassioned arguments for why a work of art should reflect the ideas and beliefs of its creator, but the simple fact was that my contract made that issue irrelevant."

The pizza here in Florida - all of 'em -
are just flat out really fuckin' terrible.

You gotta make your own pizza at home like I do. The first and most important trick is to have a really good pizza stone to bake the pie on. Then put your oven on as hot as you possibly can (not broil, dummy). Then - NEVER EVER clean the stone with water or anything else. That's the trick to seasoning the stone. Leave the shmutz on the stone - trust me.

Here's the stone I have :

The U.S. dollar is poised to further weaken, amid market views that geopolitical risks are falling after the election and that the next stimulus package will likely be smaller than expected, according to analysts. Citi Private Bank strategists predicted a weaker dollar ahead, given that a Biden administration would reduce uncertainty in international trade policy.

“Victory for President Elect Biden means a return to more conventional governance. As the province of the President, it will result in a major shift in the way foreign policy is conducted. Alliance building will return. ‘Tariff threat first’ negotiating tactics will end.”

When I was in High School my after-school and weekend job was in a sporting-goods store called Visco Brothers Sports on Bloomfield Avenue in Newark.
One of the two brothers was Albert, who everyone called Abalou for some reason or another. Didn't matter why, it was a cool nickname.
Anyway, Abalou had a great saying for when I - or anyone else - would screw up. He'd always say "You could fuck up a one-car funeral". Brilliant. If he he were still alive, I think we'd probably hear that quite often going forward.

Do you have one of these?

It's small enough so I leave ours right on the kitchen counter - I use it that often. I make sandwiches on it to take to work with me and there's usually a microwave in the houses where I'm working so I can heat 'em up when I'm ready.

This thing makes an unbelievably outrageously good toasted sandwich.
If you've never had one. I can't explain it - ya gotta try it for yourself.

  1. Jeez didn't know that the new 007 was going to be a black woman. That just killed that franchise for me. Although I wasn't a big fan of Daniel Craig either.
Obviously that was an empty beer barrel because a full one weighs at least 140 lbs or so and it would have ripped his arm right out of it's socket, but a heck of a save none the less!
