Are you happy enough where you live?

I am - I really do appreciate living here in Florida where the politicians aren't batshit crazy...

This year we all have to dig down a little
deeper to find things to be thankful for.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has pushed through a measure banning local cities from enforcing mask mandates. The measure, which extends an executive order DeSantis signed in September, prevents local governments from fining folks who fail to mask up — and from ordering restaurants to close without public health or economic data to justify the move.

The mayor of Denver is under fire after he took a flight to see his family for Thanksgiving — after urging his constituents to avoid traveling amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Mayor Michael Hancock jetted off to Mississippi to celebrate the holiday with his wife and daughter. That very morning, Hancock had tweeted, “Pass the potatoes, not COVID,” along with an advisory that urged people to stay home and hold virtual gatherings.

The difference one additional conservative makes on the bench. The Supreme Court late Wednesday temporarily barred New York from enforcing certain attendance limits at houses of worship
The court on a 5-4 vote granted requests made by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and two Orthodox Jewish congregations
The justices split 5-4 to bar the state from enforcing the restrictions against the groups for now, with new Justice Amy Coney Barrett in the majority

Pizza here in Florida is just fuckin' terrible. It may be the water, or it may just be that these people down here suck at making pizza. The only way we can ever have a reasonably good pizza is to make it at home. I made this one - half pepperoni for me -  last night. It did NOT suck.
You gotta make your own pizza at home like I do. The first and most important trick is to have a really good pizza stone to bake the pie on. Then put your oven on as hot as you possibly can (not broil, dummy). When you're done with the stone NEVER EVER clean it with water or anything else. That's the trick to seasoning the stone. Leave the shmutz on the stone - trust me.

Here's the stone I have :

Every month brings a new opportunity to see a full moon (or two!). But it’s not every month that you get to see a full moon and an eclipse at the same time, and Nov. 2020 comes bearing this double-win gift.

In the early morning hours of Nov. 30, the full Frost Moon - also commonly known as the Beaver Moon or the Mourning Moon - will reveal itself in the night sky. However, the Frost Moon doesn’t come alone; after it shows itself in full form, a partial penumbral eclipse will follow right after, resulting in a subtle shading on the moon.

On rare nights when the conditions are perfect, I can see the launched rockets at my house - 110 miles away from Canaveral.

On Tuesday night, SpaceX successfully launched another batch of the company’s internet-from-space Starlink satellites to orbit, using a very space-hardened Falcon 9 rocket for the job. This launch marked the rocket’s seventh flight to space and back — the first time SpaceX has flown such a seasoned vehicle to orbit.

The Falcon 9 took off at 9:13PM ET from SpaceX’s launch site at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, with 60 Starlink satellites in tow. After a quick trip to space, the first stage of the Falcon 9 — the bulk of the vehicle that contains the main engines and most of the fuel — separated from the rest of the rocket and came back to Earth. It then performed one of SpaceX’s signature rocket landings, touching down on one of the company’s drone ships in the Atlantic.

Diego Maradona, widely regarded as one of the greatest football (we call it soccer here, to everybody else in the world it's football) players of all time, has died at the age of 60.
Maradona was a uniquely gifted player with a  style that was all his own. He rose from the streets of Buenos Aires to reach the pinnacle of his sport leading Argentina to World Cup glory in 1986 and scoring the infamous 'Hand of God' goal along the way.
Maradona played for Boca Juniors, Barcelona and Napoli in a storied club career, and later managed Argentina at the 2010 World Cup.

More than 250 people gathered at the Oregon State Capitol on Wednesday for a Thanksgiving meal in defiance of Gov. Kate Brown's statewide "freeze." "The lockdown shouldn't be happening," attendee Geena Shipman, of Springfield, said. "When businesses have to close ... it affects them. A lot of people have worked their whole lives to build a company to support their family and they're getting shut down because they can't afford to stay open ... and that's not fair."

"Defeat The Steal And Defy The Lockdown" rally attendees stood in line for free potluck-style meal amid a steady drizzle of afternoon rain. Many gathered at the tables and covered tents set up at the Capitol grounds.

  1. Happy Thanksgiving Day to you and yours sir. Thanks for the great blog spot. Always enjoyable. First year ever we are not cooking. Some of the local restaurants that have taken a beating are setting out holiday menus for pick-up or delivery. We picked our favorite place and are going that rout and the way things are looking we may do the same for Christmas too. Even though here in Indy things are laxer than a lot of our draconian neighbors the restaurants and taverns have taken it pretty good on the chin
