The incident, according to The Hill, occurred Monday when Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.), joined by Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas), was coming down the steps of the Capitol after voting. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), meanwhile, was walking up the steps to cast her vote. Yoho told AOC in “a brief but heated exchange” that she was “disgusting” for her recent remarks tying poverty and unemployment to the recent spike in crime in New York City.
The progressive darling, according to the outlet, told Yoho he was being “rude.” The two then kept walking their respective ways, but Yoho remarked after taking a few steps, “fucking bitch.”
AOC told The Hill reporter who witnessed the exchange that it was the first time another lawmaker had challenged her in such an aggressive way. “That kind of confrontation hasn’t ever happened to me - ever. I’ve never had that kind of abrupt, disgusting kind of disrespect levied at me,” she told the outlet. I'm sure no one has ever EVER called her a cunt or a jerkoff. Ever.
Asked about the exchange, Williams downplayed the incident and Yoho’s language. Despite being in a position to hear the entire back-and-forth, Williams said he wasn’t paying attention. “I was actually thinking, as I was walking down the stairs, I was thinking about some issues I’ve got in my district that need to get done. I don’t know what their topic was. There’s always a topic, isn’t there?” he remarked.

New Jersey added 10 states and removed one from its coronavirus quarantine travel advisory on Tuesday, bringing the list to 31 states that qualify as COVID-19 hotspots. People traveling from those states — including New Jersey residents returning home — are being asked to voluntarily self-quarantine for two weeks and to seek a coronavirus test in an effort to prevent a resurgence in New Jersey, which was among the hardest hit states at the onset of the U.S. outbreak in March and April.
Alaska, Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, Virginia and Washington were added this week, while Minnesota was removed. Delaware returned to the list after being dropped last week.
New Jersey has the fifth most total positive tests after New York, California, Florida and Texas, and the second most deaths. But the number of new cases, deaths, and hospitalizations in New Jersey remains relatively stable in recent weeks after falling significantly from the outbreak peak in April.
